Debate: Rich nations must pay to fix climate change

The Communist PARTY
DATE: Thursday 26th November
TIME: 7.30pm – 9.30pm
VENUE: Harcourt Arms pub
MOTION: The only way to fix climate change is if the richest nations pay for it
BACKGROUND:
The debate over climate change is raging more than ever, but the main issue of contention is no longer whether climate change exists, but whose job it is to fix it. As the world’s developing economies continue to grow, so do their carbon emissions. However, they say they will not consider any reductions in output unless the world’s developed nations are prepared to compensate them with financial and technological support.
VENUE:
You know where to go, same place as usual, the Harcourt Arms in York St. For those of you who don’t know it, it’s a cosy Swedish pub about a five minute walk from Baker St tube station and we’ve hired out their dining room – if you need directions, see this map: http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=527470&y=181663&z=0&sv=w1h+4hx&st=2&pc=w1h+4hx&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf
HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
If you would like to speak at this debate, please let me know in advance and I’ll save you a speaking slot. If you would like a few tips on how to structure your argument and prepare your speech in advance, I will arrange for someone to sit down with you half an hour or so before the debate and talk everything through.
Alternatively, if you would just like to watch the debate and maybe ask a few questions, then feel free to just turn up on the night.

Actually, I’m not sure who won that debate come to think of it – I wasn’t there myself. You’re definitely going to like the next one though.
