In exercising our “rights” are women asking for it?
As women (and men) of course we have the “right” to go out, get pretty naked, get hammered, and dance on tables whilst snogging the bouncer if we want to. We also have the “right” to leave our doors unlocked but I bet that most of us don’t. I wish it were different, I really do, but until it is different I will continue to advocate that a little modesty and a little sobriety are the best preventative measures we have got.

It’s all about values
If everyone agrees that something needs to be done (less state spending) then which is the better party to do it – the one instinctively inclined to that course of action anyway or the one instinctively disinclined but prepared to do it nonetheless?

What Fixed Term parliaments will and won’t fix
The real advantages to introducing a fixed term parliament in Britain seem negligible. With Fixed Terms, potentially a government can hold out on the people for three years and then come out all guns blazing in year four. Whether voters have short or long memories is a different debate but my inclination is definitely towards the goldfish end of the scale.
